Just like fat and carbohydrates, protein is a commonly misunderstood nutrient. And protein is critical for proper recovery and optimal functioning.
The big issue here, however, is that figuring out what is science and what is fiction can be very hard.
So here are 6 ways to enhance your protein intake:
1. Eat in moderation: Paradoxically, eating too much protein stimulates your body into burning more muscle protein, not a good scenario. Instead, make sure you have ample amounts of carbohydrates in your diet so you can preserve muscle protein.
2. Hydrate often in small amounts: By drinking small amounts of water consistently during the day, you will provide the optimal environment for protein digestion. You see, protein requires the most water for optimal digestion.
3. Make sure at least half of your intake comes from complete sources: A complete protein has all twenty amino acids. The reason you want all twenty is so that your body can digest the protein with ease. Animal sources of protein have all twenty amino acids.
