Common Hiding Places For Bed Bugs And Other Facts About Them

The most obvious factor when attempting to keep track of Bed Bug infestations in apartment and condo units is that Bed Bugs happily travel from one unit to another. Bed Bugs love any form of heat, CO2, plus pheromones given off by us. Once a colony has evolved to a point it finds it no longer has a food source that can keep it growing, break away bugs move on to the next unit using the walls and unsealed bottom plates,attracted by sources of food in the adjacent unit.

Many families try unworkable home remedies for Bed Bugs or more extreme measures – such as throwing out their Bed Bug-infested mattresses and bedding, and sometimes ripping out carpet and replacing furniture to rid Bed Bugs from their home! While this course of action can often be understandable responses this isn’t an efficient Bed Bugs remedy or cure for Bed Bugs because they will go into the walls, under the baseboards or any other hiding place. What Termites Are And What They Do

If you think about termites and think they are ants you would be 100% wrong. The ant and the termite come from two completely different insect families. While termites are prolific and can do enormous damage to wood and other organic materials they have quite a delicate physical structure.

Habitat: Nests fall into two types those above ground and those underground. Above ground they may appear as dirt mounds, in trees or on other structures. Below ground they are found tunnels under the earth or tree stumps.

It is important for the termites that there is a high degree of humidity otherwise the working termites will dry out. They nests also need to be maintained at a warm temperature usually between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius.

Bed Bugs – What They Are and How They Behave

You are here because you want to learn a little more about bed bugs. Well for one they can be referred too as miniature vampires, as they feed on warm blooded mammals, but in most cases, it is you that they are feeding on.

When time of the day do they feed?

During the day time they are usually hiding out someplace that is dark. They do not like the light and will rarely be seen during the day. What makes them so hard to track down and kill is that they are not like ants and other insects, meaning that they do not stick together in groups, so they can be hiding at all four corners of the room.

The hiding places for bed bugs are all over the room, they are very small so they can squeeze into the most inconspicuous spots to keep out of site. They will also camp out inside of your mattresses for days or weeks, or until they get hungry.

How can I identify a bed bug?

Bedbugs: Treatment Methods

Bedbug treatment can be done in many different ways. And the most convenient for anyone will be hiring a professional exterminator for the job.

But there are many do-it-yourself ways that you can choose from: steam cleaning, extreme heat, insecticides, diatomaceous soil, and mattress cover.

Steam cleaning is an effective bedbug treatment. The only problem is that not all surfaces can be steam cleaned. Check first if the surface that you are about to clean can withstand this method.

Another method is by exposing the infested furniture, linens, or mattress under the heat of the sun for a couple of hours. Before you do this, you must scrub and vacuum the infested stuff.

It is important for you to know that after vacuuming the infested materials, you must dispose of the used vacuum bag properly. This is done by sealing the vacuum bag inside a plastic bag. And before putting back the exposed materials into the house, you must check for the presence of bedbugs again.
